Joakim Persson

Joakim Persson ( born April 3, 1975 in Helsingborg) is a Swedish football player.

Club career

Persson played in his youth for Högaborgs BK. In 1992, he joined Malmö FF. His debut for the first team he gave in 1994 at a cup match against Landskrona BoIS.

1996 Persson went to Italy to Atalanta. Here, however, he only played rarely and, after less than two seasons back to Sweden for IFK Göteborg. But even here he took not right foot.

In 2000 he left Sweden again and joined the Danish first division side Esbjerg fB. In the 1999/2000 season the relegation followed in the Second Division. In the following season, the direct back in the Bundesliga.

In summer 2002, Persson moved to Germany in the 1st Bundesliga for FC Hansa Rostock. In addition, Andreas Jakobsson, Marcus Lantz, Peter Wibrån, Magnus Arvidsson and Rade Prica he was the sixth Swede in the Mecklenburg squad. Under coach Armin Veh he played as a defensive midfielder and came in his first season for Hansa in 26 Bundesliga appearances. His debut in the German top flight he was on the first matchday in a 2-0 away win against TSV 1860 Munich. Persson was able to secure the league at the end of the season with Hansa. After Hansa began the 2003/04 season with four losses, Armin Veh resigned as coach and was replaced by Yuri Schlünz. Schlünz Persson moved from midfield into defense and appointed him defense chief. After the Swede came off the bench in the first six games of the season only once late, he was in 27 of the last 28 games on the court. His first and only goal for Hansa he scored on the 11th match day of 1:1 in Moenchengladbach. At the end of the season was a ninth place in the table. In the season 2004/ 05 Persson even came on 30 Bundesliga appearances. But this time he could with the team the class does not hold and rose from a table next to last from the 1st Bundesliga. During his time at Rostock Persson played in addition seven times in the DFB Cup. In three penalty kicks he scored twice and missed a penalty.

After the descent Persson left the Rostock and moved to Norway for Tippeligaen club Stabæk IF. Although he had a long-term contract in Stabæk, he moved again in 2007 to his home country. He moved into Superettan, the Swedish second league to Landskrona BoIS.

National

The five -time junior players selection (one goal ) played 27 games for the Swedish U -21 national team, scoring eight goals.

For the senior team Persson ran three times. In 1997 he played in the King's Cup in Thailand to Romania, Japan and in the final against Thailand. In the final match he scored a goal.

Private

Joakim Persson is the father of three children.
