Joey Hishon

Joey Hishon (born 20 October 1991 in Stratford, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League on the position of the center. NHL Entry Draft 2010 he was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round at 17th overall position.

Career

In his first season for the Owen Sound Attack Hishon finished the season 2007/ 08 the youngest player and second- best scorer of the team. In the following season he led his team with 81 points from 65 games back in the play-offs, which were missed in the previous year. In the same season he was honored by the coaches of the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League, among others, as the best playmaker. During the 2009/10 OHL season Hishon broke a foot when he blocked a shot, further he suffered a knee injury. These injuries limited his bets on 36 games in which he scored 40 points. NHL Entry Draft 2010 the player was selected in the first round at 17th overall position of the Colorado Avalanche.

On March 14, 2011 Hishon signed a three year contract with the Avalanche and finished the regular season 2010/11 with 87 points in 50 games. The striker was named All- Star team after this season in the OHL First. In the play-offs this season, the Canadians reached with his team to victories over the London Knights, Plymouth Whalers, Windsor Spitfires the final of the Ontario Hockey League. Owen Sound sat there against the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in the best- of-seven series 4-3 and earned victories by the fact the J. Ross Robertson Cup as well as a participation in the Memorial Cup in 2011. Was in this competition Hishon in the last game portion of the first tournament game against the attack checked Kootenay Ice by Brayden McNabb and hit by his elbow to the head. Due to the head injury obtained thereby Joey Hishon could no longer continue both the game and the tournament; McNabb received a ban of one game.

Internationally

His debut in the Canadian national hockey team gave the striker at the U18 Junior World Championship 2009, where he was with ten points from six games, the most successful scorer of Canadians. A medal but was missed, the team finished at the end of the fourth. Joey Hishon also received an invitation for the U20 World Youth Championship in 2011, but was not nominated for the final team.
