J. Ross Robertson Cup

The J. Ross Robertson Cup is a trophy of the Ontario Hockey League for the winner of the play-offs and thus master of the OHL. It was donated by John Ross Robertson and named after him. Robertson was 1899-1905 President of the Ontario Hockey Association.

Originally, the trophy was awarded to the winner of the OHA Junior playoffs. Since the season 1933/34, he was rededicated and the Junior A champions the OHA presented. First winner then were the Toronto St. Michael's Majors. With a further breakdown of the highest junior leagues in Ontario 1972/73 the Cup remained in the higher Junior A League of OHA, which became the OMJHL and 1980 OHL later.

† Note: The Kitchener Green Shirts won the Cup in 1935 on the " green table " after the Oshawa Generals were disqualified because of the use of an unauthorized player. The team of the Green Shirts is not the same team that later became the Kitchener Canucks and then to the Peterborough Petes.
