Erie Otters

The Erie Otters are an American ice hockey team from Erie, Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 1996 as a junior team and plays since in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League ( OHL ).

History

In 1996, the Niagara Falls Thunder were from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Erie, Pennsylvania, resettled, where they have since under the name Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League active. After the Otters were eliminated in their first three seasons in the OHL respectively, in the first playoff round, they were washed three times in the years 1999 to 2002 as division winners in the Midwest Division. In the 2000 /01 season Erie reached its greatest success so far, as it is the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as point- best team in the regular season won (102 points). In the following season, the Erie Otters for the first time reached the final of the J. Ross Robertson Cup, which they won against the Barrie Colts. Since Erie did not win another title more.
