Mike Blunden

Michael Blunden (* December 15, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since July 2011 with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Michael Blunden began his career as a hockey player with the Erie Otters, for which he was active from 2002 to 2006 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 in the second round than a total of 43 players from the Chicago Blackhawks, where he made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2006/07 season. In his rookie year, the attackers received ten penalty minutes in nine games. However, the rest of the time he spent at their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Norfolk Admirals. In the 2007 /08 season the right shooter was only in one game for Chicago in the NHL on the ice and ran again the rest of the season for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL on.

After he started the season 2008/ 09 with the IceHogs, he was discharged January 10, 2009 in exchange for Adam Pineault to the Columbus Blue Jackets. At the beginning of the season 2009/10, the Canadian was appointed to the NHL squad the Blue Jackets. On July 7, 2011 it transferred the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Ryan Russell to the Montreal Canadiens.

For Canada Blunden took part in the U20 Junior World Cup in 2006, when he became world champion with his team.
