Geoff Platt

Geoff Platt (born 10 July 1985 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Belarusian- Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since 2009.

Career

Geoff Platt began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League, where he was active for the North Bay Centennials, Saginaw Spirit and Erie Otters 2001-2005. However, the 2004/05 season, he finished at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL. On 23 September 2005, the attacker signed as a free agent contract with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, and two months later at their partners from the National Hockey League, the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the following two and a half years he played in parallel for both, before he was released on 15 November 2007 in exchange for Aaron Rome and Clay Wilson to the reigning Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks. For Californians the links Sagittarius denied until the end of the season 2007/ 08 but only five games in the NHL, as he failed with their AHL farm team Portland Pirates until the playoff semi-finals to the Calder Cup to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The 2008/09 season began Platt at HK Dinamo Minsk of the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League. After only 13 games in which he scored two goals and added three assists, he left the White Russians, however, already back to compete for Ilves Tampere in the Finnish SM- liiga. For 2009/ 10, the Canadians signed again at HK Dinamo Minsk in the KHL.

Internationally

For Canada took part in the U18 Platt Junior World Championship 2003, where he became world champion with his team.
