Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch

Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch ( born March 3 1770 in Stockholm; † August 30, 1811 ) was a Swedish military, who achieved as a draftsman and engraver awareness.

Palmstruch 1786 Ensign at the Swedish fleet, and as such took part in acts of war and an expedition to Morocco. From 1797 to 1798 he was a teacher at a Masonic School and thereafter was for some time in agriculture.

Palm Struchs main work, the panel work was Svensk Botanik ( Swedish Botany) whose first part appeared in 1802 and for its preparation he later received a royal privilege. The drawings are mainly of Palmstruch itself, usually made from nature, the engravings produced initially Major KV Venus, later Palmstruch and partly Johan Gustaf Ruckman. The text was not written by Conrad Quensel and after his death by Olof Peter Swartz, who already considered from the beginning the work on behalf of the Academy of Sciences. Palmstruch also began Tafelwerk Zoologi Svensk ( Swedish zoology ) was its main production by Johan Gustaf Bill Berg. From botany plant were to Palm Struchs death seven volumes ready.

This task took Gustaf Bill Berg, who later sold the business to the state. The last volumes created various authors on behalf of the Academy of Sciences. The rare tenth and final book of the eleventh volume appeared in 1843. Svensk Zoolgi was completed in 1825 by Bill Berg.
