Kahrs is engaged in painting, graphics, video art and sound and sculptural installations. His subjects reflect the equally banal and brutal imagery of the modern media. In his large -scale oil paintings and pastel drawings, reminiscent in its figurative- expressive structure of Francis Bacon, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter, Kahrs developed an original style, the social conventions and viewing habits questioned ironic. Since 2003, Kahrs is represented by Zeno X Gallery in Antwerp.

Johannes Kahrs lives and works in Berlin.
