Johannes Meyer

Johannes victory Fred Meyer ( born May 28, 1884 in Skodsborg, † November 4, 1972 in Copenhagen) was a Danish actor.

Life

He made his debut in 1905 in Copenhagen Dagmarteatret. In 1907 he joined the Folketeatret, where he served until 1916. From 1916 he played at the Det Ny Teater. From there he returned back to the 1918 Dagmarteatret whose ensemble member he remained until 1926. 1941 to 1953 he was regularly at Det Kongelige Teater on stage. Then he gave guest performances at various theaters.

Meyer appeared in numerous films from renowned directors such as Carl Theodor Dreyer, Bodil Ipsen and Lau Lauritzen Jr. with. In 1949 he was awarded the Bodil for Best Supporting Actor in the film Stot står the danske sømand.

Since 1953, Meyer ran the Regina Theatre in Aarhus and since 1960, the Metropolitan in Copenhagen.

In 1946 he was awarded the Dannebrogorden and 1950 the Dannebrogordenens Hæderstegn, a silver cross to Dannebrogsorden, awarded for outstanding contributions in the arts.

In 1955, he was with the Medal of Merit Ingenio et Arti (Latin for: For spirit and art ) and in 1964 awarded the Grand Cross of the Dannebrogorden. He is still (2012 ) the most decorated actor in Denmark.

Meyer's grave is located at the Copenhagen Cemetery Vestre Kirkegård
