John A. Wickham, Jr.

John Adams Wickham Jr. ( born June 25, 1928 in Dobbs Ferry, New York ) is a retired American general in the U.S. Army and Chief of Staff of the Army.

Biography

After school he joined the U.S. Army and in 1950 was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After studying business and management subjects at Harvard University, where he graduated with a Master of Arts (MA Economics & Government), he was from 1956 to 1960 taught at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. In 1967, he was also a graduate of the National War College at Fort Lesley J. McNair.

In 1982 he was appointed Deputy General Chief of Staff of the Army ( Vice Chief of Staff of the Army ).

Last time was General Wickham from 23 July 1983 to June 23, 1987 Chief of Staff of the Army (U.S. Army Chief of Staff ).

John Wickham was also active in the Council on Foreign Relations.
