Dobbs Ferry is a village in Westchester County in the U.S. state of New York and is part of the Town of Greenburgh. In 2000, the city had 10,622 inhabitants.

Geography

Dobbs Ferry has according to the United States Census Bureau, an area of 8.2 km ². Of this, 6.3 km ² of land and 1.9 km ² waters. Dobbs Ferry is located on the Hudson River near New York City, west of Interstate 87 U.S. Highway 9 into a north-south direction as Broadway through the local area.

History

Dobbs Ferry was named after a Fährübergang over the Hudson River. The city was founded in 1873 with the name of Greenburgh. In 1882 the city was renamed.
