John J. LaFalce

John Joseph LaFalce ( born October 6, 1939 in Buffalo, New York) is an American politician. Between 1975 and 2003 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1957, John graduated from the LaFalce Canisius High School in Buffalo. Thereafter he attended until 1961 the local Canisius College. After a subsequent law degree from Villanova Law School in Philadelphia, and his 1964 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. Between 1965 and 1967 he served in the U.S. Army. Then he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In the years 1971 and 1972 he sat in the Senate from New York; 1973 to 1974 he was a member of the New York State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 1974 LaFalce was on the 36th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Henry P. Smith on January 3, 1975. After 13 re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2003, a total 14 legislative periods. Since 1983 he represented there the 32th and the 29th District since 1993 his state. Between 1987 and 1995 LaFalce was chairman of the Committee on Small Business. In addition he was temporarily on the Finance Committee. In his time as a congressman fell also the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 and the beginning of the Iraq war.

In 2002, John LaFalce renounced another Congress candidate. Today he is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Democrats for Life of America.
