John McFarland (ice hockey)

John McFarland ( born April 2, 1992, Richmond Hill, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is in the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League contract.

Career

McFarland was in the OHL Priority Selection selected in 2008 in the first place by the Sudbury Wolves and as a result, has been awarded the Jack Ferguson Award. In August 2008 he signed a contract with the Wolves, for which he went to the Ontario Hockey League to the ice. After his second season in the OHL, where he scored 50 points in 64 games, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2010 to 33 out of the Florida Panthers. After another twelve games for Sudbury, McFarland moved in December 2010 to league rivals Saginaw Spirit. In the World U -17 Hockey Challenge 2009 McFarland won the gold medal with Team Canada Ontario, was then elected with 13 points best scorer of the tournament and the All- Star team. In the same year he won the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, where he led the Canadian team as captain on the ice. For Canada, he also took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010.
