John Miner (ice hockey)

John Miner ( born August 28, 1965 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who, among other things for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, as well as the Kölner Haie and Augsburger Panther in his playing days from 1981 to 2008 the German Ice Hockey League has played.

Career

John Miner began his career as a hockey player with the Regina Pats, which until 1985 he was active from 1981 in the Western Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1983 in the eleventh round when a total of 220 players from the Edmonton Oilers. First, the defender played but two years solely for their farm team in the American Hockey League, before he gave Nova Scotia Oilers in the 1987/88 season his debut in the National Hockey League for Edmonton, where he in 14 games five points scorer, including two goals scored. While the Oilers have won this season the Stanley Cup, but the right-handed shooter, did not contest enough games so that his name was not engraved on the trophy. After the season he was released to the Los Angeles Kings. He moved to Austria and played for the Vienna EV and after the end of the season in Europe for the AHL farm team of the Kings, the New Haven Nighthawks. A season later he played for Lausanne HC in the Swiss National League B and played after the end of the season once again for the New Haven Nighthawks. An insert in the NHL with the Kings was not granted to him.

Miner returned North America definitely the back and moved back to Austria for EK Zell am See, for which he took in the Austrian Hockey League from 1991 to 1993. Then he returned to the Swiss National League B. First he played for HC Ajoie and then for the HC Martigny, before he was in the summer of 1995, committed by the EV train from the Swiss National League A, with which he in the 1997/98 season Champion.
