John of Burgundy (1231–68)

John of Burgundy (franz: Jean de Bourgogne, * 1231, † September 29, 1268 ) was a Count of Charolais and Lord of Bourbon. He was a younger son of the Duke Hugo IV of Burgundy and Yolande of Dreux.

Johann married in February 1248 Agnes († 1288), the daughter and heiress of Mr. Archambault IX. out of the house of Bourbon Dampierre. After the death of father in 1249 Johann became in right of his wife ( jure uxoris ) Lord of Bourbon.

With his wife, John had a daughter, Beatrix ( † 1310), which should both take the paternal as well as maternal inheritance. It was in 1272 with the Royal Prince Robert, Count of Clermont, married. Both were the ancestors of the Capetian dynasty of the Bourbons.
