Johnny Crawford

Johnny Crawford ( born March 26, 1946 as John Ernest Crawford in Los Angeles, California ) is a former child actor and singer who was best known for his role as teenage son of Chuck Connors in the Western series West of Santa Fe.

Life

Crawford began his career with small roles in various television series and was also one of the first Mousketeers of the Mickey Mouse Club ( 1955-1959 ). 1960 Crawford signed 14 -year-old his first recording contract with Del -Fi Records and had with Cindy 's Birthday 1960 a top 10 hit. Furthermore, Top 40 hits like Rumors (1962), Proud (1963) and The Girl Next Door (1964 ) followed.

After the series West of Santa Fe was discontinued after the sixth season and slowly got his music career to a halt, he appeared in smaller series roles. After his high school graduation in the summer of 1964 he moved to Texas to learn rodeo riding. Between 1964 and the early 1970s, he participated as a member of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and Ajra (American Junior Rodeo Association) rodeo competitions in part.

Apart from occasional appearances in series and movies Crawford leads his own dance band, The Johnny Crawford Dance Orchestra with ragtime and swing classics of the 1920s and 1930s. He is the brother of actor Robert Crawford junior.
