Jonathan Polynice Vilma ( born April 16, 1982 in Coral Gables, Florida ) is an American football player at the position of the middle linebackers. He plays for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League ( NFL).

College career
University of Miami
Jonathan Vilma played four years for the college team from the University of Miami. His statistics amounts to 377 tackles, three bag, nine interceptions, four fumbles and nine pass Deflections ( undefended passes).
NFL career
New York Jets
Vilma was selected by the New York Jets in 12th place in the 2004 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he was elected with 108 tackles, two interceptions and three bag for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He played until 2007 for the Jets, where he scored 435 tackles, two and a half sack, six interceptions, six forced fumbles and a touchdown.
New Orleans Saints
On 29 February 2008 Jonathan Vilma was traded from the Jets to the New Orleans Saints. The Jets got a 4th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and a possible draft pick in 2009. During the 2009 season, Vilma was under Head Coach Sean Payton to move with the Saints in the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XLIV, the Indianapolis Colts were defeated by 31:17.
