Jönköpings Södra IF

Jönköping Södra IF is a Swedish football club based in the town of Jönköping. The A- team plays in the current 2011 season in the second Swedish football league.

The club was founded on 9 December 1922 in Jonkoping.

In the 1930s, the sporting success increasingly began to set. In the year 1933, Jönköping Södra IF could qualify for the Division 3 (then 3rd league).

1945, the club won the then Division 2, which Jonkoping could play in the 1945/1946 season for the first time in the Allsvenskan, but also descended again. 1947 succeeded in re- ascent and 1950, the club finished at the end of playing time even rank 2 in the Allsvenskan. After four more seasons in the Allsvenskan in 1954, the club were relegated to Division 2 where they played until the next promotion in 1959.

In the 1960s, Jönköping Södra IF Allsvenskan commuted between (1960, 1969), Division 2 ( 1961-63, 65-68 ) and Division 3 (1964). The season in the Allsvenskan in 1969 should be up today for the time being the last in this league.

In the 1970s, the association of the 1974 season played mainly in Division 2 (2nd league), except ( Division 3). Until 1981 it held this league, but then had in the third division play for longer periods ( 1982-84 ( Division 3 ), 1986-89 ( new Division 2 ) ).

In the 1990s, it was for the club to slide. So they played, after relegation in 1989, in the years 1990 to 1992 in Division 3 ( now 4.Liga ) before then relegated to Division 4. There we spent the years 1993-94 and 1996-1998 (1995: Division 3). In 1999 they were back in Division 3 and immediately rose to the Division 2 where Jönköping Södra IF played until 2005, when they could qualify for the second division (Superettan).

Since the 2006 season, Jönköping Södra IF plays in the Superettan. Since the 2012 season, J- Södra is coached by Mats Gren.
