Jörg Duda

Jörg Duda ( born December 17, 1968 in Munich) is a German composer and musician.

Life and work

Duda began in childhood with the formation of different instruments and wrote his first compositions at age nine. He was particularly influenced by the church music at the Basilica Scheyern with Karl -Heinz Söndermann. He received private lessons in organ and improvisation by Harald Feller, with whom he studied and later, as well as theory and composition lessons with Dieter Acker. During this period mainly chamber music and church music, which were based on baroque and neoclassical models.

During the study as a church musician with A- test at the Munich Academy of Music 1988-92 he was under his choral conducting faculty and sponsors Roderich Kreile member of the boys choir Munich. This led to a radical change in his compositional style, which expressed itself in challenging choral music. He has performed as an organist and worked as an accompanist at the chorus of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic Choir.

Another artistic turning point took place in 1992 by the encounter with Finnish music and culture, which was also marked by the friendly cooperation with the poet Lassi Nummi.

1992 Jörg Duda studied composition with Peter Kiesewetter in Hanover and later with Dieter Acker in Munich, where he graduated in 1997 with master class. Since 1998 he has been a full-time church musician at the parish church of St. Emmeram in Geisen field and has at times been a lecturer in music theory at the University of Erlangen -Nuremberg. Since 2000 he plays as a concert organist in Finland both his own compositions and improvisations and developed a close musical friendship with the Finnish opera singer Johann Tilli. Duda is co-founder of the Munich harmony music and Cumulus Piano Quintet. In 2007 he received the award of the city Geisen field. Among his major achievements include multiple performances of both Tubakonzerte by Andreas Hofmeir with various orchestras (since 2010). 2013 received Hofmeir and others for his recording of the first Tuba Concerto by Jörg Duda ECHO Klassik prize. Hofmeir were also numerous other works for or with tuba with Jörg Duda in order.

From the vocal music out its own chamber music style Dudas, who had also increasingly formed works for strings, despite the preference for woodwind and brass instruments developed. In addition to his pictorial style that plays across time periods with listening habits are polyphony and metamorphosis essential features of his music.
