Jörg-Peter Weigle

Jörg- Peter Weigle ( born March 28, 1953 in Greifswald ) is a German conductor and choir. He is a professor of choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, was from 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2012 its rector and took effect from 1 April 2014, the acting head of the university.

Life

Jörg- Peter Weigle received his musical education from 1963 to 1971 at the Leipzig Thomas Choir at the St. Thomas School. From 1973 to 1978 he studied at the Academy of Music " Hanns Eisler" in Berlin under Professors Horst Förster ( conducting), Dietrich Knothe ( choral conducting ) and Ruth Zechlin ( counterpoint). He completed his education by participating in the Weimar Music Seminar in 1976 with Kurt Masur and the International Masterclass in Vienna in 1978.

From 1977 to 1980, Jörg- Peter Weigle conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra Neubrandenburg, from 1980 to 1988, he led the Radio Choir Leipzig (since 1985 as chief conductor ). With the season 1986/87 he was appointed chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic. From then on, led him concert tours through Europe, North and South America and Japan. He has performed at home and abroad, eg with the Staatskapelle Dresden, various radio orchestras in Germany and Sweden and the Bamberger Symphoniker. From September 1991 Weigle worked in various productions of the Komische Oper Berlin and the Dresden Semperoper.

From 1995 to 2003, Jörg- Peter Weigle chief conductor and artistic director of the Stuttgart Philharmonic. His fruitful, inspiring and successful work with the orchestra has for years been confirmed by numerous reviews. There were several tours with the orchestra throughout Europe as well as North and South America.

From 1994 to 2000 Jörg- Peter Weigle worked at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden as head of the high school orchestra. 1995 he received an honorary professorship. In addition, he was able to pursue his passion for choral music over and over again at different broadcasters. He produced with the chorus of the Bavarian Radio A cappella works and conducted choral concerts. For choir and orchestra of the NDR Hamburg, he conducted Rossini's Stabat Mater and Verdi's Quattro pezzis sacri, with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Hannover and the NDR Choir Max Bruch's the bell. In 2000, he was invited for the first time to a concert with the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin.

CD recordings complete the picture. Recently several CDs have been released with orchestral works by Swiss composer Hans Huber as well as a complete recording of the symphonies Felix Draeseke, a late-Romantic composers, whose work has attracted much interest.

Since 2001 he is professor of choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler " in Berlin. In October 1999, Jörg- Peter Weigle conducted the B Minor Mass by Johann Sebastian Bach with the Berlin Philharmonic Choir, he has been since the 2003/2004 season there Artistic Director.

The conductor Sebastian Weigle and the violist Friedemann Weigle (Artemis Quartet) are his nephews.

Awards

On May 26, 1997, he was awarded the Saxon Constitutional Medal of Landtagspräsident Erich Iltgen.
