Jorge Hernández (boxer)

Jorge Hernández ( born November 17 1954) is a former Cuban boxer.

Career

It was founded in 1974 at the inaugural World Cup in Havana amateur world champion in the light flyweight, where he was able to defeat the reigning Olympic champion, among others, György Gedó. After he was able to prevail also in 1975 at the Pan American Games in Mexico City, he qualified for participation in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, where won the gold medal in his weight class.

At the World Championships 1978 in Belgrade, he took a second place, he lost there against the Kenyans Stephen Muchoki he had four years previously defeated in the final. He then moved into the flyweight, but had little success in this weight class. So he lost in the Pan American Games in 1979 in San Juan in the quarter- finals. In 1980, he played his second Olympic Games in Moscow, however, different from in his first preliminary round fight.
