José Andrés Corral Arredondo

José Andrés Corral Arredondo ( born November 30, 1946 in Coloradas, Mexico, † December 24, 2011 in Parral ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Parral.

Life

José Andrés Corral Arredondo studied at the Seminary of Durango and the Pontifical Seminary of Montezuma, New Mexico ( USA), where he earned a bachelor's degree in theology. He received on 22 November 1970, the ordination. He was assistant priest and taught as a professor of philosophy and theology at the seminary of Durango. 1973 to 1976 he studied at the Pontifical Colegio Mexicano in Rome at the Pontifical Biblical Institute and earned a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture. From 1976 to 1982/89, he was professor of Sacred Scripture at the seminary of Durango. From 1976 to 1981 he also served as Diocesan Advisor to the Christian Family Movement. He was coordinator for the priest (1976-1982) and Vice President of the Pontifical Mexican College Pontifical Colegio Mexicano in Rome (1982-1985). He was active in the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of the Mexican Episcopal Conference (1983-1985 and 1986-1988 ). He was Episcopal Vicar for Religious in 1989.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 January 1989 on the Titular Bishop of Cincari and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Durango. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Durango, Antonio López Aviña, on 22 February of the same year; Adolfo Antonio Suárez Rivera were co-consecrators, Archbishop of Monterrey, and Norberto Rivera Carrera, Bishop of Tehuacán.

John Paul II appointed him on 11 July 1992 on the first bishop of the newly established Diocese of Parral. In the CEM became involved in various committees. From 2004 to 2006 he was a representative of the northern region of Mexico in the CEM.
