Joseph Arshad

Joseph Arshad ( born August 25, 1964 in Lahore, Pakistan) is a bishop of Faisalabad.

Life

Joseph Arshad visited the St. Mary's Minor Seminary in Lahore and studied Catholic theology at Christ the King Seminary in Karachi. He received on 1 November 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

From 1991 to 1995, Arshad parochial vicar in the parish of St. Joseph and pastor at St. Peter 's School in Kamoke - Gujranwala. During this time he also studied journalism at the University of the Punjab, Lahore. From 1995 to 1999 Joseph Arshad studied canon law at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and attended the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. In 1999 he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See, and then worked in the following countries: Malta (1999-2002 ), Sri Lanka ( 2002-2004), Bangladesh (2004-2007) and Madagascar ( 2007-2010). Since 2010, Joseph Arshad worked as nunciature counselor to the Apostolic Nunciature in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On July 3, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Bishop of Faisalabad. He received his episcopal consecration of the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Fernando Filoni, on 1 November of the same year. Co-consecrators were the apostolic nuncio in Pakistan Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, and his predecessor in Faisalabad, the Archbishop of Karachi, Joseph Coutts.
