Joseph Dube

Joe Dube (* February 15, 1944 in Altha, Florida ) is a former American professional weightlifter.

Career

Joe Dube was a boy fascinated by the famous American weightlifters Paul Anderson, Charles Vinci and Isaac Berger and by bodybuilders Reg Park and Bill Pearl and decided with his three brothers to emulate these successful athletes. In 1958 he began therefore with bodybuilding and weightlifting. His first teacher was his older brother Virgil. After completing his schooling, he became a member of the York Barbell Club. There the coach Dick Smith and Walter Imahara care about him. Joe made ​​especially in weightlifting great progress and surpassed first time in 1966 the 500 kg limit in the Olympic triathlon. Throughout his career, he was indeed world champion and won an Olympic medal, but it never managed to become U.S. champion. Even in the days of his highest power, he was defeated by Bob Bednarski and Ken Patera. But the World Cup victory in 1969 outshone everything. In 1972, Joe from weight lifting back, but started from 1979 to 1982 making a comeback, but could not build on his heydays.

Joe Dube worked from 1962 to 1996 at a large insurance agency in Jacksonville / Florida. Now retired, he now enjoys his life and indulges in his hobbies, painting, horseback riding and motorcycling and is scheduled to participate in the great biker meeting in Daytona Beach / Florida.
