Joseph Loeckx

Jo -El Azara (actually: Joseph F. Loeckx; born May 4, 1937 in Drogenbos ) is a Belgian comic book artist.

Azara studied at the Institut Saint -Luc in Brussels and learned while vacationing Willy Vandersteen know, who offered him a job in his drawing studio. There he worked on a series of Suske and Wiske. From 1954 to 1961 he was a collaborator of Hergé and supported this in the creation of several albums of Tintin. In 1958 he published under several pseudonyms, such as Jo -El, Ernest and Jo -El Azara comics and drawings in various journals, including in Spirou.

Its first series appeared in Tintin magazine, including with Taka Takata also his most famous. In addition, he drew a Percy Pickwick episode (Les diaboliques lutins, text by Greg ) and worked with various screenwriters, such as Jacques Acar, Jacques praise, Maurice Rosy and Michel Crespin, together. In 1994 he founded his own label Azara Azeko, which he used to reissue the albums of Taka Takata.
