Joseph Neil MacNeil

Joseph Neil MacNeil ( born April 15, 1924 in Baile Shidni ) is a Canadian priest and Archbishop Emeritus of Edmonton.

Life

Joseph Neil MacNeil received on 23 May 1948, and was ordained priest incardinated in the Clergy of the Diocese of Antigonish.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on April 9, 1969 Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick. The Bishop of Antigonish, William Edward Power, donated to him on 24 June of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were James Martin Hayes, Archbishop of Halifax, and Alfred Bertram Leverman, Bishop Emeritus of Saint John, New Brunswick.

On 2 July 1973 he was appointed Archbishop of Edmonton. From his office, he resigned on 7 June 1999.
