Joseph Sadoc Alemany

Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill OP, Josep Sadoc Alemany i Catalan Conill, ( born July 13, 1814 Vic, Catalonia, Spain, † April 14, 1888 in Valencia) was Archbishop of San Francisco.

Life

Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill joined the Congregation of the Dominicans and received on March 11, 1837 Sacrament of Holy Orders.

On May 31, 1850, he was named by Pope Pius IX. Bishop of Monterey. The prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide, Cardinal Giacomo Filippo Fransoni, donated to him on June 30th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Mitkonsekrator was the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Giuseppe Valerga.

On July 29, 1853, he was named Pius IX. Archbishop of San Francisco. Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill occurred on December 21 in 1884 as Archbishop of San Francisco and was appointed on 20 March 1885 Titular Archbishop of Pelusium.
