Juan Burgueño

Juan Burgueño Pereira ( born February 4, 1923 in Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player who in 1950 football World Cup, but has never contested a total of one match.

Association

During his career, the attacker first played in 1947 for CA Atlanta from the Villa Crespo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. From 1948 to 1955 he was then in the rows based in Montevideo club Danubio. Overall, he completed more than 200 appearances for the club from Montevideo. In 1954 he reached the Uruguayan Vice- Championship his best result at club level. The following year he was also involved in the tour Danubios through Mexico and Central America.

National

Juan Burgueño was also a member of the Uruguayan national football team. Having already participated with the Celeste at the Copa Río Branco 1946, he was also in the squad for the World Cup 1950 in Brazil. Since Burgueño was not used in the tournament and had also completed before and after the World Cup no caps for his native country, he is one of the players that have become soccer world champion without having ever attended an international match. Earlier this feat already the Italians Giuseppe Cavanna and Pietro Arcari at the Football World Cup 1934 and their compatriots Aldo Donati and Bruno Chizzo at the Football World Cup 1938.
