Jüchsen is a village in the southern district Schmalkalden- Meiningen in Thuringia. Since 1 December 2007, the formerly politically autonomous village is a village in the municipality grave field. Through the town flows the Jüchse.

History

On the Rain Knight located on a west-facing summit 10 grave hill near the Wachenbrunn and place of settlement ram instead. There are tombs of the Middle Bronze Age.

The cemetery, located on a small hill used to have a mount that was probably created to control the Jüchsetals and transition Jüchse to monitor the running direction of Themar to Mellrichstadt road. For the first time the town was mentioned under the name Gohhusia in the year 758. The place originally belonged to the center of the county Themar Henneberg. In the hen Bergische main division in 1274 came from the center Themar the two places Jüchsen and Neubrunn to the line Henneberg - Schlesusingen and the Bailiwick of Henneberg were assigned, which later formed the Office Maßfeld. 1680 was the place of the duchy of Saxe-Meiningen.

Jüchsen 1607-1675 was affected by extensive witch hunts. 24 women and five men got into witch trials, five women were burned and two women beheaded. From ten processes the output is unknown. Barbara Krell died under torture. In their torture protocol states: "on torture by the evil enemy neck turned around".

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: In green with a golden heart sign with a red armored black hen on a black three- mountain, a golden beams, covered with a blue wave beams; about two golden rafters and beneath it a golden rafters. The three triangles symbolize the three to still existing flour mills of the village. In the middle of the crest of the river " Jüchsen " flows. The hen, the emblem symbolizes the bond to the Duchy of Henneberg.
