Juha Laukkanen

Juha Laukkanen ( born January 6, 1969 in Pielavesi ) is a Finnish athlete who was active in the 1990s as a javelin thrower.

He had his first international appearance in 1988. At the Junior World Championships in Greater Sudbury, where he came in tenth place with 65.54 m

He took only once - Barcelona 1992 - Olympic Games part. With 79.78 meters he miss although the qualifications required width of 80 meters, however, came in ninth final, which he finished with 79.20 m in sixth place.

In the following years he went twice at European Championships - 1994 in Helsinki and 1998 in Budapest - at the start. In Helsinki, he did not enter the final with 75.76 m. In Budapest, however, he qualified with a throw over 83.71 m directly, could be in the finals again by just increase a yard and ended up with 84.78 m in fifth place.

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, he came up with 78.88 m at No. 19

Since he had strong competition in their own country with Seppo Räty and Aki Parviainen, he could only win two national championships: 1992 ( 86.72 m) and 1994 ( 81.92 m).

Power development:

With his personal best of 88.22 meters, thrown on June 20, 1992 Kuortane, it ranks currently (March 2007) on place 18 of the eternal world leaderboard.

Juha Laukkanen is 1,86 m tall and weighs 90 kg.
