Jukka Hentunen

Jukka Mika Petteri Hentunen ( May 3, 1974 in Joroinen ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who was most recently at KalPa Kuopio in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Jukka Hentunen began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of WarKis Varkaus, for the first team to 1995 he was active in 1993 in the Finnish third division, the Suomi- sarja. He then spent three years in the second-class I- divisioona in which he ran aground for discos Jyväskylä and Hermes Kokkola. From 1998 to 2000 the winger for HPK Hämeenlinna played in the top Finnish league, the SM- liiga. For the season 2000/ 01 he joined the league rivals Jokerit Helsinki. The 2001/02 season he joined the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, after they had already selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the sixth round as the 176th overall player. For Calgary, he scored two goals in 28 games and three assists. In the rest of the season, he also played for their farm team in Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League and NHL Calgary's league rival Nashville Predators.

For the 2002/03 season Hentunen returned to Jokerit Helsinki SM- liiga back in the. With the team he won in the same year at the European level the IIHF Continental Cup. He then played every two years in the Swiss National League A for Fribourg- Gottéron and the HC Lugano. With Lugano, he was Swiss champion in the season 2005/ 06. Initially he started the season 2007/ 08 in Lugano in the NLA, he moved to Ak Bars Kazan in the Russian Superleague. Internationally, he was also the IIHF Continental Cup win with the team. In the 2008 /09 season the Finn took part in the game with Kazan operation of the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League and won with his team immediately the Gagarin Cup.

From 2009 to 2011 played Hentunen one more time for Jokerit Helsinki SM- liiga in the. For the 2011/12 season he moved within the league to KalPa Kuopio.

Internationally

For Hentunen Finland took part in the World Championships in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. He also stood in 2004 -up from their country at the World Cup of Hockey, as well as in the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 in the Euro Hockey Tour. At World Championships Hentunen won with his team two silver and two bronze medals. He also reached Finland at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and the 2006 Winter Olympics in second place.
