Jury Chechi

Jury Dimitri Chechi (born 11 October 1969 in Prato ) is an Italian former gymnast.

Jury Dimitri Chechi won the gold medal on rings at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. In 2004 he was third on the same device. Between 1989 and 1997 he won at the World Gymnastics Championships five times gold and two times the bronze medal on the rings. Chechi was also four times between 1990 and 1996 European champion on the rings.

Due to the numerous successes in this Turngerät his nickname at the time was " Lord of the Rings ".

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was wearing the Italian flag at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Turin in 2006, he headed with a hammer.
