Geography

Geographical Location

Kakenstorf located northwest of the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Tostedt, which has its headquarters in the town of Tostedt. In the municipality of Kakenstorf Dohrener mill creek, Dresteder Bach, Bach Kakenstorfer, Sprötzer Bach and Bach Todtglüsinger open into the Este.

Community structure

The municipality includes the villages of Kakenstorf Kakenstorf, In der Horst and Bötersheim and the homestead Seggernhoff.

History

By the year 1900 the municipalities Kakenstorf, Drestedt, Trelde and Sprötze formed the community The four villages from which emerged the church today. Drestedt is an independent community today. Trelde and Sprötze have been incorporated on 1 July 1972 in the town of Buchholz in the North Heath.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the neighboring community Bötersheim was incorporated.

Traffic

  • For the A 1 motorway which lies in the north of the parish is about 7 km. The Federal Highway 75 runs right through Kakenstorf.
