Kakogawa, Hyōgo

History

The city's history dates back to the Gyōjazuka - Kofun from the 5th century, in its present form was founded in 1950 by merging the municipalities and villages of the district Kakogawa. 1965 exceeded the population of the 100,000 mark, 1979, the 200,000 mark.

Economy

In the city's numerous enterprises in the manufacturing industry are located, significant is the large industrial plant by Kobe Steel on the sea. With the economic development of the area west of Kobe Kakogawa experiencing a significant upturn in the first decade of the 21st century.

Traffic

Three railway companies operate Kakogawa: JR West, Sanyo Electric Railway between Kobe and Himeji, as well as the local Miki Railway. The main connections exist on the SANYO line of JR with local and express trains to Kobe (26 minutes) and Himeji (11 min). JR runs next to the regional Kakogawa Line to Tamba.

Education

The private university is located in Hyōgo Kakogawa.
