Kala Patthar

The Kala Patthar is a mountain in the region Khumbu Himal Mahalangur in southeast Nepal. He is actually a secondary summit of Pumori. In the immediate vicinity are Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Lingtren why he is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Khumbu.

The name Kala Patthar means " Black Stone ". Since he is only 5675 m high, it counts in Nepal not officially to the mountains. From travel agencies, the slightly lower south summit ( 5545 m ) is selected for the ascent often. From the last permanently inhabited village before Everest Base Camp, Gorak Shep, the summit in a two-hour climb is reached. From the top you have a good view of the west side of Mount Everest, in the north wall and south-west wall, and on the west ridge.
