Kalyna Roberge

Kalyna Roberge ( born October 1, 1986 in Saint- Étienne- de -Lauzon ) is a Canadian Shorttrackerin.

It began with seven years with speed skating and short track speed skating, starts for the club CPV Lévis and trained under Sébastien Cros and Jeffrey Scholten in Montreal at the power center. Since 2002, Roberge starts at international championships. First, it was especially successful at junior level. At the Junior World Championship 2004, she was in the all around Eighth, her best individual result, it achieved a fourth place on 500 m. In the season 2004/ 05 Roberge debuted in the World Cup. They won at the Junior World Championship 2005 in Belgrade her first international title, more than 500 m, it was victorious, over 1000 m, she won silver in the all around and with the relay bronze respectively. Even in the adult area, she managed in the season the breakthrough. At the World Championships in Beijing, she was with the relay world champion, at the World Team Championships in Chuncheon, she won with her teammates bronze.

In the season 2005/ 06 final Roberge met before in the world's best. It achieved two podium places over 500 m and three more in the relay, including her first World Cup victory in four World Cups. At the World Championships in Minneapolis, she won the all-around and about 500 m and 1000 m respectively the bronze medal, while silver gained in the relay. In the World Team Championships in Montreal, they also reached third place. She qualified for the Olympic Games in Turin, finishing more than 500 m in fourth in the season, she won her first Olympic silver medal.

The post-Olympic season 2006/ 07 brought Roberges first World Cup victories in individual races, she won over 500 m and 1000 m. To this end, they took with the season two podiums. At the World Championships in Milan, she won the 500 m race, and thus their only world title in a single race. In the all-around and with the season they also won bronze, as well as in the World Team Championships in Budapest. In the 2007 /08 season Roberge reached six World Cup podiums. She built at the World Championships in Gangneung from their impressive number of medals won by winning over 500 m and 1000 m bronze. In the all-around, she finished fourth. Also in the World Team Championships in Harbin Roberge won again the bronze. The 2008/09 season was less successful for Roberge. She won at the World Championships in Vienna bronze team, but could not place it on the front ranks in the individual race. In the World Team Championships in Heerenveen, she finished fourth.

In its last season in 2009/10 Roberge reached three other podium finishes in the relay and two more than 500 m. She denied her second Olympic Games in Vancouver. About 500 m and 1000 m respectively, it reached the semi-finals and finished the ranks six and five. About 1500 m it was 13, in the season but Roberge won the silver medal again. In the World Team Championships in Bormio Roberge could also win silver. She started yet conclusively at the World Championships in Sofia and won over 500 m and with the relay silver medal. In the all-around and above 1500 m and 3000 m, they were each fifth. After the season, Roberge moved a year back from competitive sports to advance their studies. In the season 2011/12 they returned to the Canadian team.
