Kameničná

Kameničná ( until 1948 slovak " Keszegfalva "; Hungarian Keszegfalva ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia, with 1924 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Komárno, a part of the Nitriansky kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland on the river island Žitný ostrov, on the right bank of the Waag. The center is located at an altitude of 110 m nm and 11 kilometers from Komárno as well as 13 kilometers from Kolárovo.

Administratively divided the community into the parts Balvany and Kameničná.

History

Kameničná was first mentioned in 1482 as well the castle Komárom writing. Frequent flooding of the Waag, the original place in the 18th century was rebuilt away from the river. Even in 1887, the village was a small town. The population lived mainly by agriculture and fisheries; the second employment is even symbolically represented on the coat of arms.

Until 1919 part of which is in the county Komárom place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, it was 1938-45 again in Hungary.

After the Second World War the place in 1948 from national political reasons slowakisierter place name has been assigned and the municipality reduced again and again, such as a spin-off in 1968 to form the new municipality Vrbová nad Váhom at the other Waagufer.
