Kampf um Rom

Struggle for Rome is a two-part historical film by German director Robert Siodmak based on the novel by Felix Dahn. The two parts Struggle for Rome - Part 1 and Struggle for Rome - Part 2: The betrayal started in 1968 and 1969 in the German cinemas. Prior to the release in the U.S., the two parts were combined in 1973 and reduced to 94 minutes. This abridged version came in 1976 as a re-release in German cinemas.

Action

The film describes the struggle of the Ostrogoths from Italy to their king, Theodoric 's death until her demise in 552 AD.

Background

Widely The eventful story with its mix of palace intrigues and monumental battles follows the historical novel, A Struggle for Rome by Felix Dahn from the year 1876. The buildings were designed by Ernst Shomer. Andrew Marton and Sergiu Nicolaescu were involved as additional directors.
