Kapelln (also Kapelln at the Perschling ) is a market town with 1380 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Pölten- Land in Lower Austria.

Geography

Kapelln is located in the Valley of Perschling in the exact center of Lower Austria, each a few kilometers northeast of St. Pölten and southeast of Duke castle. The area of ​​the municipality covers 20.18 square kilometers. 10.29 percent of the area is forested.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Etzersdorf, Kapelln, Katzenberg, Killing, Panzing and Mies Ting, Pönning, Rapoltendorf, Rassing and Thalheim.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum, the place was due to the civil road from Carnuntum on Vindobona (Vienna) to Aelium Cetium ( St. Pölten ). Are first records from the 9th century. The parish Kapelln was built in the second half of the 11th century by the diocese of Passau. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria. The local church Kapelln originated in 1854 by the Association of Cadastral Kapelln with the cadastral Etzersdorf, Katzenberg, Killing, Panzing with Mies Ting, Pönning, Rapoltendorf and Rassing.
