Karaçoban ( Turkish for black shepherd ), (Kurdish Qereçoban ) is a town and a district of the Turkish province of Erzurum.

Population

The Kurds are the majority population in Karaçoban dar. Additionally, it contains also some in the 1930s live is settled Turks from Central Anatolia and the province of Ordu. In addition, Ossetians live in the village and in Budaklı Güvendik district.

Geography

The district is located in the east of Anatolia and is located in the vicinity of Lake Van. Karaçoban is located 182 km from the city of Erzurum. It is bordered to the west by the county Hinis and to the north by Karayazi.

Karaçoban is divided into the following 9 Districts: Akarsu Mah, Bağlar Mah, Mah Bahçeli, Erhanlar Mah, Mah Güvendik, Hacılar Mah, Mah Kavaklı, Sarıveli Mah and Mah Seyhan.

This includes the following 19 villages: Akkayak, Binpınar, Bozyer, Budaklı, Burnaz, Çatalgül, Dedeören, Doğanbey, Duman, Erenler, Gündüzköy, Karagöz, Karaköprü, Carmi, Kırımkaya, Kuşluca, Marufköy, Molladavut and Ovayoncalı.

Policy

1964 a small administrative center was established. Born in 1949 Hinis Alican Kocakaya ( CHP) is the head of administration Karaçobans.
