Katherine Reutter

Katherine Reutter ( born July 30, 1988 in Champaign ) is an American Shorttrackerin.

It was already four years old on the ice, at first however in figure skating. But soon she joined and trained henceforth speed skating and inline skating. In 2005, at age 16, she won first national age group championships and was then taken on a junior training center in Marquette. In 2007, she participated in Mladá Boleslav for the first time participated in a Junior World Championship. In the following season 2007/ 08 she dubütierte in the World Cup, and reached a total of five podium finishes. At the World Championships in Gangneung, she won the same good rankings in their first appearance at a World Cup in the adult area. It was about 1500 m Fourth, won the 3000m Super Final bronze and finished seventh in the all-around standings. Also in the 2008/ 09 season they again reached six podium finishes, including a first World Cup victory. In the World Team Championships in Heerenveen, she won with her teammates bronze at the World Championships in Vienna, she was again seventh in the all around.

The 2009/10 season was Reutter's final breakthrough in the world's best. She won over 1000 m and 1500 m, two World Cup races. In the World Cup discipline rating was over 1000 m and 1500 m Second Third. As a national champion, she qualified for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. There she finished seventh over 500 m, Fourth above 1500 m, won the silver medal over 1000 meters and bronze in the 3000 m relay. Also in the 2010 World Cup in Sofia, she won two medals, bronze respectively over 1000 m, and with the season. The following year, she won four medals at the World Championships in Sheffield. Over 1500 m, it was the first time World Champion, about 1000 m, she won bronze and 3000 m and in the all around each silver. Bronze she won also at the World Team Championships 2011 in Warsaw. In the World Cup, she won over 1000 m and 1500 m respectively the World Cup and also was the overall World Cup winner. Another successful event was the first half of the season in the World Cup 2011/12. Reutter achieved six podiums, including more than 1000 m and 1500 m total of three World Cup victories. However, the second half of the season missed Reutter injury.

Reutter counts Bonnie Blair, five-time Olympic gold medalist in speed skating to their role models. Blair also grew up in Champaign. Reutter trained regularly in the amount of Salt Lake City. The training there, they have to finance, which is why they support multiple sponsors, including the Champaign Police Department itself. In return, she is godmother of charitable projects.
