Kathy Hochul

Kathleen Courtney " Kathy " Hochul ( born August 27, 1958 in Buffalo, New York) is an American politician. Between 2011 and 2013, she represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Kathleen Courtney, so her maiden name, attended until 1977 the Hamburg High School in New York State. She then studied until 1980 at Syracuse University. After studying law at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC and their 1983 was admitted as a lawyer, she began to work in this profession. At the same time they hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. From 1984 to 1986 she was on the staff of Congressman John J. LaFalce; after that, she worked for U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan to 1988. Between 2003 and 2007 she served as Deputy Clerk in Erie County, then she was there until 2011 County Clerk.

After the resignation of Republican Chris Lee deputies Hochul was elected in the by-election due for the 26th seat from New York as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where she started her new mandate on May 24, 2011. She had previously somewhat surprising in a strongly Republican dominated constituency with a 47:42 percent of the vote against Jane Corwin, deputy in the New York State Assembly, enforced and conquered for the first time in 40 years the district for the Democrats. Since it has not been confirmed in the election in 2012, she retired on January 3, 2013 the Office. She was a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Homeland Security and in two sub-committees.

After her political career in 2013, she was a lobbyist for the largest bank in Buffalo (M & T Bank ) in the spring.

Kathy Hochul is with the United States Attorney for the Western part of the State of New York, William J. Hochul, married. The couple has two children.
