Kematen am Innbach is a market town in Upper Austria in the Gries district churches in Hausruckviertel with 1344 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gries churches.

Geography

Kematen am Innbach situated at an altitude of 350 m above sea level. A. in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 5 km from north to south, from west to east 4.9 km. The total area is 12.7 km ². 15.7 % of the area is forested, 73.2 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Documents from the years 1247 and 1249, summarized the possession of the monastery Kremsmuenster, call the parish church for the first time Steinerkirchen. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was granted in 1620 by Emperor Ferdinand II at the same time with the market survey. The red and white stripes are (however slight left set ) Ancestral Arms of Polheimer, were among the most prominent Uradelsfamilien the country.
