Kerstin Garefrekes

Kerstin Garefrekes ( born September 4, 1979 in Ibbenbüren ) is a German football player. The midfielder is since 1998 in the women's Bundesliga and was from 2001 to 2011 for the national women's active.

Sporting career

Garefrekes began in 1986 with the football games, first in her home town of Steinbeck at Green-White Steinbeck, then at the DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren. In 1998 she joined the newly formed FFC Heike Rheine. With Rheine they were relegated from the Bundesliga in 1999. According to the Direct resurgence she was the leading scorer in every season of their team.

On 17 November 2001 she made her debut in the national team in the match against the Netherlands. With the national team, it was 2003 and 2007 World Champion, 2005 and 2009 European champion. In 2004 she was with 26 goals scorer in the Bundesliga. That same year she joined the first FFC Frankfurt and won with the national team bronze at the Olympic Games in Athens.

With Frankfurt in 2005 she was German champion and a year later winner of the UEFA Women 's Cup. Garefrekes developed into one of the key players in the DFB team. At the World Championships in 2011 she acted temporarily as Mannschaftskapitänin. In August 2011, she ended her career in the DFB.

Profession

Garefrekes decided after graduating from high school in Ibbenbüren for a civil service career in the upscale service. She graduated at the administrative Fachhochschule Münster and worked until the end of 2004 as Stadtinspektorin the welfare office Rheine with a focus on " performance grant for the homeless ".
