Khomasdal

Region

Khomasdal is a suburb of Windhoek (Namibia ) and constituency within the region of Khomas. Khomasdal was - as Katutura - under the South African apartheid policy as originally Township ( suburb ) founded in the immediate vicinity of the capital Windhoek.

History

Khomasdal was up to the independence of Namibia in 1990 of " colored people " ( English: Coloured ), ie People inhabited mainly with Nama and Boers as ancestors who have a higher social status and, accordingly, a higher standard of living enjoyed as black Africans. Today's Khomasdal accordingly has mostly before mid-size land and houses. In recent years, however Khomasdal Wanaheda and Katutura are so strong grown into Windhoek that physical separation is no longer visible. Khomasdal is the location of the Windhoek College of Education and the Khomasdal Stadium.
