Kideksha

Kideksha (Russian Кидекша ) is a village in Russia's Vladimir Oblast. It is located about four kilometers east of the city of Suzdal, near the confluence of the Kamenka in the Nerl.

History

In Kideksha was in the 12th century, the residence of Prince Yury Dolgoruky. Yuri Dolgoruky chose the place probably due to its strategic location, which made it possible to control the waterway in the river upstream of the Kamenka Suzdal.

Attractions

In the village of several buildings from the 12th to 18th centuries have been preserved, including the built in 1152 Boris and Gleb Church, which was built as a court church of the princely residence. The latter is next to the Church of the Transfiguration in Pereslawl- Salesski the oldest testimony of Vladimir - Suzdal limestone architecture dar. During the Mongol invasion, the building was damaged. In 1239 it was again repaired but some time but later abandoned to decay. Only in the 16th and 17th centuries the very dilapidated church was rebuilt, but its shape was significantly altered.
