Kira Walkenhorst

Kira -Katharina Walkenhorst ( born November 18, 1990 in Essen) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career Hall

In the hall Kira Walkenhorst also played in the Junior Women 's National Team, with whom she participated in the European Championships in Italy Foligno in 2008, but had to retire injured. She played the VC Olympia Berlin, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and from 2009 at the Bundesliga Alemannia Aachen before 2011 as the regional league FdG Herne changed, where her father is the coach.

Career Beach

Kira Walkenhorst in 2005 on the German side of Mareen Terwege C Youth Champion. Later were, inter alia, Chantal Laboureur and Anika Brinkmann their partners. With Anna -Lena Rahe she started first time in 2010 at the German Championships at Timmendorfer beach and was ranked thirteen. Then they won with Jana Köhler FIVB Challenger tournament in Chennai, India.

2011

2011 saw the launch Kira Walkenhorst first with Melanie Gernert, but moved in July to Geeske Banck, with whom she immediately captured the smart tournament in Cologne and finished at the German Championships in ninth place. In between Kira won Walkenhorst with their former partner Chantal Laboureur at the U23 European Championship in Porto the bronze medal.

2012

In 2012 she won then, again with Laboureur, the U23 European Championship in Assen, Netherlands. With Geeske Banck Kira Walkenhorst was then German vice-champion. Then Banck / Walkenhorst reached at the Åland Open seventh place.

2013

Since 2013 Kira Walkenhorst plays on the side of the four-time beach volleyball player of the year for Laura Ludwig Hamburger SV. In the first tournament of the year 2013, the CEV Satellite in Antalya ( Turkey) Ludwig / Walkenhorst reached the final, which they lost 0-2 against the Netherlands team van Gestel / Meppelink. After the first tournament of the world tour in Fuzhou ( China) could not play due to an injury of Walkenhorst, they got in Shanghai fifth place. In The Hague, they reached the ninth. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Ludwig / Walkenhorst reached the quarter- finals where they were eliminated against the Chinese team Xue / Zhang Xi and occupied fifth place. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the third place.

On the Smart Beach Tour they reached third place in Norderney, Hamburg and Münster and were finally in August 2013 German Masters.

Private

Kira Walk Horst's siblings Pia and Alexander also play volleyball and beach volleyball.
