Kirsten Bolm

Kirsten Bolm ( born March 4, 1975 in Frechen ) is a former German track and field athlete who specialized in the 100 - meter hurdles.

Life

Bolm grew up in Scheessel, where she belonged to the TV Scheessel since 1985. In 1991, she won her first national title when she was Junior Champion over the hurdles and long jump. The following year she was over the hurdles fifth at the Junior World Championships in Seoul. 1994 Bolm won gold at the Junior World Championships in Lisbon, they also reached number five in the long jump.

In the adult area Bolm in 1999 German Vice Champion and qualified for the World Championships in Seville, where she was eliminated in the intermediate run. The following year she became the first German champion. In 2001 she moved to LT DSHS Cologne. She could defend the national championship and participated in the World Championships in Edmonton. At the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002, she won over 60 meters hurdles silver medal. At the European Championships in Munich, she was eliminated in the flow.

From 2003 started Bolm for the MTG Mannheim and trained with Rüdiger Harksen. In 2004 she took part in the Olympic Games in Athens, reaching there the intermediate run. The following year, she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid. On July 22, 2005, she ran in London with 12.59 s, the fastest time by a German hurdler for 18 years. Shortly afterwards she came in fourth place at the World Championships in Helsinki.

In Moscow Bolm came at the World Indoor Championships in 2006 in fifth place. Outdoors it was the sixth time German champion. At the European Championships in Gothenburg Bolm was initially awarded the bronze medal behind the simultaneous Irishwoman Derval O'Rourke, after a successful protest of the DLV then she received the silver medal. In 2007, she won at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham bronze. After she failed to qualify for the Beijing Olympics due to an injury, she finished her playing career in 2008.

Bolm had a competition weight of 69 kg at a height of 1,81 m. She studied from 1997 to 2001 at Brigham Young University in the United States and became Bachelor of Science (Psychology). She studied psychology at the University of Heidelberg in 2009 she graduated with a diploma.
