Klaus Dibiasi

Klaus Dibiasi ( born October 6, 1947 in Hall in Tirol, Austria ) is a former Italian art and diver.

Biography

With three years he has been trained by his father, Charles Dibiasi. This, itself a good diver, took part for the Italian team at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, and was several times Italian champion; after the option was this lifeguard at the pool by Hall and Austrian Champion in high diving.

Later Klaus Dibiasi lived in Bolzano ( South Tyrol) and competed in competitions for Italy. At the opening ceremony for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal Klaus Dibiasi was standard-bearer of the Italian team. He is still the only Italian Olympic champion in the water jump. Besides Valentina Vezzali Klaus Dibiasi is also the only athlete of Italy, who won three gold medals in the same individual event; and so far the only diver in the world that has won three consecutive gold. As one of the most successful Olympic athletes of Italy he was thus honored at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin as the flag bearer at the closing ceremony.

Between 1977 and 1988 he was Chairman Dibiasi Italy coach of the diver and Technical Director of the jump athletes. By 1996 Dibiasi has trained all the Italian Olympic team of art and diver. In 1981 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.

Today Klaus Dibiasi lives with his family in Rome and works as a coach and sports official.
