Klisura (Bulgaria)

Klissura (Bulgarian: Клисура ) is a town with 1478 inhabitants ( 2005) in the municipality of Karlovo ( Oblast Plovdiv ) in Central Bulgaria. The city is located about 70 km northwest of Plovdiv and 90 km east of Sofia in Rosental, at the foot of the Balkan Mountains and the Sredna Gora.

The Vejen, with 2198 m above sea level, one of the highest mountains in the Balkan Mountains, located 8 km ( straight line ) northwest of Klissura.

By Klissura the Strjama, a 110.1 km long river, which rises on Vejen and 15 km east of Plovdiv flows into the Maritsa flows.

Klissura is located on Route No. 5 ( E = 871 ), the north of Sofia transferred to 1 km Distance from Kazanlak. The A1 motorway is 70 km away to the south.
